Age: 16 weeks old
Size: 20 pounds
Breed: Lab Mix
Good in a home with: Other dogs, children, and cats
Hi my name is Barbara, I am a 16 week old female black lab mix. My breed is kind of unknown but I’m 100% cute! I have an interesting curl in my tail and I weigh approximately 20 pounds. I am currently working on signaling when I need to potty, but I’ve had multiple days in a row with zero accidents and will be fully potty trained soon. I love walking on a leash! Sometimes I freeze up on the leash a bit when we’re approaching other people or when big dogs are barking at me but I’m getting more confident every day. I came to The Cantu Foundation with my brother, Regil and am loving being in a foster home so I can’t wait to find my new forever family.
My foster family describes me as timid but 100% sweet. I currently prefer to follow my foster mom around and have her always in sight. Like any puppy, I do have bursts of energy (so regular exercise and walks for me are important!). I have some separation anxiety but we are working on getting me more comfortable being in my crate. My foster mom likes it when I leap around like a hunting dog and I do give off a few barks when needed to let you know if I hear something outside the house. I really like learning new things and I have almost mastered “sit.” We’re still working on “come.”
I would be best in an active single owner or active family home. I would be fine both as an only dog or with another dog in the home. I am great with my two year old foster human sibling and am learning not to jump on her. I would love to be with someone who is home more often or who can take me along places. My foster mom has only left me in a crate when I am home alone, so I’m not sure yet how I would do if left alone without a crate. I whimper and bark for a couple minutes when left in the crate, but I’m getting better. My adoption fee is $500, this fee covers my first year of vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip. Do I sound like the dog for you? You can fill out an application to adopt me at http://www.thecantufoundation.org/adopt.html
