Hi there! My name is Romeo and I am so excited to meet you! I am an adorable shepherd mix who is around 2-3 years old. I am fully vaccinated and neutered. I weigh about 40 pounds of pure love. My foster parents say that I am fully potty trained and crate trained. They are currently working on leash training with me and I am doing extremely well.

I came to the Cantu Foundation after me and my brother were rescued from an abusive home in Mexico. I was abused and ended up being tied up somewhere remote, the foundation found out and came to save me. After all of this, my brother and I got adopted by another human but ended up being abused there as well. I was then brought back to the sanctuary for a second time. I have been through a lot! My brother has since been adopted by someone else and is living happily!

I have been a little lost without him since he was my buddy and support system. But being on my own has made it so I gained some confidence and independence. I am a little weary of other kids and dogs and would need some time to get to know them. I have not met a cat yet but would probably feel the same way! I am a cuddle bug who loves to just chill on the couch. I am just now starting to enjoy walks as I was very nervous about everything at first.

My foster parents say that I am anxious around loud noises and younger children. I just need your help to build confidence and show me that the world is not scary! I do not show any signs of separation anxiety and my absolute favorite thing to do is to sleep! I love being in a quiet dark space where I can relax. My foster parents would describe me as sweet, patient, and gentle.

My ideal home would be a quiet household, I would do great one on one with you and with a family with no young children (younger than 10) or high energy dogs. I have faced many hardships in my life and am scared of new things but definitely open to the idea. I am gaining confidence each day and have been having little breakthroughs with my foster parents. I just need someone who will show me love! As long as you are patient and kind with me I will learn to overcome my fears and be a dog who can enjoy the world around me.

My adoption fee is $350, this fee covers my first year of vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip. Do I sound like the dog for you? You can fill out an application to adopt me at http://www.thecantufoundation.org/adopt.html
