Hi, I’m Valentino, a 2 year old male lab mix weighing in at about 35 pounds. I’m looking for my forever home and am happy you are taking some time to read about me!

I’m a very good boy, fully potty trained and I walk really well on a leash. I am not crate trained. I was rescued by the amazing people of TCF with my brother from a neglectful and abusive home. I’ve been in foster care in San Diego since February and I adjusted to my new environment really quickly so I think I’ll love meeting my new forever family too! I love the other dogs in my foster home and am a total sweetheart who loves nothing more than affection from my humans. I haven’t met kids or cats since I’ve been with TCF. I’m a loving, playful, social, goofy, affectionate and gentle young guy with some periods of high energy along with periods of time where I am just a couch potato. New places and situations make me a tad nervous at first but I come around quickly and let my happy, soulful, confident self shine through. I bond strongly with my humans and am happiest right next to you getting pats. I will even let you know, with a gentle paw or nose nuzzle, when I would like more belly rubs.

I do great on car rides and I know commands like “sit” and “come” and am working on learning “off” and “leave it”. I don’t find treats super motivating but am driven by praise and affection during training sessions and I love to learn! I’d make the perfect dog for a family or active adult and hope you’ll continue positive reinforcement training and give me exposure to a variety of new places. I’d love dog or human siblings but would also do fine as an only dog especially if my humans are around a lot. Anywhere I can play and cuddle a lot is perfect! Sometimes, like a lot of pups, I do chew on furniture and shoes when unsupervised so we should work on that or you can help me with crate training. I also love to chase birds and lizards outside and will dig any preexisting gopher holes in the backyard, but I’m still the best boy and can’t wait to find my family!

My adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering and vetting care. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here http://www.thecantufoundation.org/adopt.html I can’t wait to be best friends and be the best pup with you!
