Hi, Im Astrid! Im a 4-year-old Maltese/Terrier mix girl weighing about 12 pounds, and Im basically a tiny bundle of sweetness, gentleness, and calm energy. My journey started a little rocky when I was found with a hip fracture, but thankfully I healed without surgery, Im no longer in pain, and Im ready for my next chapter. I may take life at a slightly slower pace, but I have perfected the art of enjoying the little things: a cozy bed, a sunny spot, a good sniff around outside, and being near the people I love.

Heres what makes me special:

Gentle Little Soul I am as sweet and kind as they come. Im quiet, easygoing, and have the softest personality. I dont even bark. I prefer peaceful vibes and relaxing days.

Perfect Little Shadow I love being close to my humans, but Im not demanding about it. My favorite place is a comfy bed on the floor in the same room as you, where I can happily keep you company.

Easygoing Friend I do great with other dogs and cats! Im not looking for wild playtime, but I coexist beautifully and bring a calm presence wherever I go.

Little Explorer Im still a bit of a leisurely walker and can occasionally get startled by things around me, but Im becoming more curious about the world. Ive discovered that I really enjoy getting to sniff around and explore at the park, especially when I can take everything at my own pace.

Polite House Guest Im fully potty trained and walk nicely on leash. At bedtime, I actually do best sleeping safely and comfortably in my crate. If Im left to wander at night, I can bump into things in the dark, so my crate gives me a cozy, secure place to settle in and sleep peacefully.

A Little About My Health I have a history of seizures and take daily anti-seizure medication that keeps them well controlled. Its an inexpensive medication, costing about $20 per month, and something my future family will need to continue. Ive been medically cleared and am otherwise doing great! This isnt new for me either. I survived life as a street dog while living with this condition, and now, with consistent care and medication, its simply another small part of my routine.

I can be a little shy when I first meet new people, but give me some time and youll get to see my adorable happy tippy taps and little nose taps when Im excited to see you. Because of my old hip injury, I prefer keeping all four paws on the ground. Jumping onto furniture or being up high just isnt my thing. I also appreciate a little extra traction on slippery floors, but I get around well and enjoy exploring at my own pace.

My dream home is one where I can live my best cozy life with someone who appreciates a mellow, loving companion. I dont need big adventures or tons of activity, but Im happy to get outside, sniff around somewhere new, go for gentle walks, sunbathe, and then head home to relax near my favorite people. Im happiest with someone who will let me experience the world at my own speed.

If youre looking for a low-maintenance little best friend with a huge heart, the sweetest tippy taps, and so much love to give, I might be your perfect match.

My adoption fee is $300. This fee covers my first year of vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip. Do I sound like the dog for you? You can fill out an application to adopt me at www.thecantufoundation.org/adopt.html
