Hi! My name is Chicken! Yes, you read that right — Chicken. I promise I’m 100% dog and 0% poultry… although I do have a silly personality to match my name. I am 2-3 years old, I’m about 37 pounds of pure love, and I’m a Lab/Pittie mix with a heart that might be bigger than my whole body.

I had a tough beginning. I was found living in a cardboard box outside in Mexico with my two puppies. I did my very best to protect and love them, even when things were scary. One of my babies didn’t make it, which was very sad, but I’ve never stopped loving with my whole heart. Now I’m safe, cared for, and ready for my very own forever family. I think I’ve earned that happy ending, don’t you?

Here’s why you’ll fall in love with me:

• Love Bug: I am EXTREMELY cuddly. If you sit down, I assume you are inviting me into your lap. I am extremely affectionate. I will shower you with kisses and tail wags.

• Smart Cookie: I’m fully potty trained (because I’m a classy lady). I’m crate trained and doing well with leash training.

• Playtime Buddy: I’m very playful and love running around with my foster dog sister. I have moderate energy — I love adventures, but I also love relaxing.

• Social Butterfly: I LOVE other dogs. Seriously. Please give me a dog sibling. I thrive with a playmate. I adore people. Strangers? Future friends.

A little more about me:

I do have a little mild anxiety sometimes, but I do not have separation anxiety. I just like knowing my people are nearby. It makes me feel safe. I live with a cat right now and we’re doing well. If I move in with a cat, I’ll just need slow introductions and guidance so we can be respectful roommates. I haven’t had much experience with kids yet, but when they approach me on walks or at events, I stay calm and mind my business.

What’s my dream home?

I would love a doggy sibling to wrestle and cuddle with and maybe a yard or outdoor space to zoom around in. I really want a family that enjoys adventures AND couch time and humans who understand slow introductions (especially if there’s a cat sibling!) I’m moderately independent, but honestly? I just really love being near my people and my dog friends.

My adoption fee is $400, this fee covers my first year of vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip. Do I sound like the dog for you? You can fill out an application to adopt me at http://www.thecantufoundation.org/adopt.html
