Hi, I’m Hiccup!

I’m a playful, high-energy Carolina dog/Basenji mix born on April 5, 2024, and expected to grow to around 35 pounds.

My story started on the streets of Rosarito, where I was found and taken in by the rescue for a routine spay—somehow, I never left! Turns out, I was just too lovable to say goodbye to, and now I’m on the hunt for my forever home.

If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate pup who is always ready for action, I might just be your perfect match!

Here’s why I’m a total catch:

Playtime Pro: If there’s a game to be played, I’m in! Fetch? Pick me. Tug-o-war? Put me in, coach. Wrestling with my dog friends? Yes, please! I could play all day, especially with another dog that I love.

Affectionate Adventurer: I’m full of love and will happily shower my humans with kisses after a good romp. I can't wait to be someone's perfect companion.

Smart & Spirited: I’m an energetic pup who loves learning and exploring. I'm very obedient and eager to please. My favorite thing is making my humans proud and impressing them with new skills.

Great with Dogs (After a Proper Hello!): My first reaction can be a little extra, but give me a moment and I’m ready to be best buds. I'm still young and learning how to make friends, after all!

Built for an Active Home: Whether it’s hikes, playdates, fetch, or just running around a yard, I’m always up for an adventure. Consider me your copilot.

A little more about me:

I’ve got a lot of puppy energy, so I’ll thrive in a home that keeps me engaged, moving and playing.

I’m fully potty trained (how great is that!?) but I’m still learning some leash manners. I'm newly crate trained and with a little more time, I'll feel my coziest and safest in there. I have a bit of separation anxiety (can you blame me?) so when you leave, I might whine and scratch a little bit, but I always settle down. I’m also a little hesitant when meeting new dogs and some people, but once I warm up, I’m all love and zoomies!

What’s my dream home?

I’d do best in an active household with a yard. It would be fun to have another playful dog to keep me company but I'm also happy being the only sidekick to my humans. Kids +12 preferred.

If you love outdoor adventures, have patience for puppy training, and are looking for a fun, smart, extra affectionate companion, I think we’d be a great team! I promise to keep life exciting and full of love—are you ready for the ride?

My adoption fee is $400. This fee covers my first year of vaccinations, spay, and microchip. Do I sound like the dog for you? You can fill out an application to adopt me at thecantufoundation.org
